WMU News for November 2019

As I sit writing this article, we are receiving some much-needed rain.  Thank you, Lord, for answering our prayers.

I just want to thank the church again for your generous giving to the Global World Hunger special offering in October.  It was such a blessing to see that we exceeded our goal of $900 by almost $200.  Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

This month our special emphasis is on the North Carolina Children’s Homes.  We are most familiar with our own Truett Home in Hayesville and the Broyhill Campus in Clyde, NC.  But there are facilities sponsored by NC Children’s Homes all over the state, including some Wilderness camps which I did not know about.  There will be special emphasis this Sunday by showing a video about two young boys who by the world’s standards were desperate, but the NC Children’s Homes were able to turn their situation around and give these boys a home and a hope. Our goal for this month is $2000, and I pray we will not only meet this goal but exceed it as well.  The work these homes do in providing a safe, loving, God-centered shelter needs our financial and prayerful support.

Don’t forget the Christmas shoeboxes; we still have about half the boxes left.  They will need to be back to the church November 17th, so get your boxes and fill them up for children around the world.

Helen
